The Republican Pedagogical and Psychological Center (RPPC) published two articles highlighting the process and the results of the Help Me Read project, done in partnership with NorArar Education NGO within the scope of a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding signed between two organizations earlier this year.
The article below briefly discusses the significance of understanding and adequately responding to the complex literacy needs of students with special educational needs and emphasizes the purpose of Help Me Read: The project enhances the quality of reading development provision for students with special needs in Armenia. In phase one national RPP staff members got training in reading literacy development. In phase two RPPC local staff and school staff in Alaverdi and Vanadzor were trained on reading literacy development strategies.
In collaborative working groups individualized interventions and assessments were designed and then implemented with students. Monitoring and evaluation data suggest 80% effectiveness of interventions for students with special educational needs engaged in the project.
