Our core literacy program continues with the financial support of GIZ, the German Cooperation for International Cooperation Agency. The preparatory training period of the project lasted 2 months. After the opening face-to-face event in Vanadzor, we involved teachers from 14 partner schools and colleagues from the Stepanavan local psychopedagogical support center in an online community of practice. Collectively, we studied selected literacy teaching topics every week, discussed relevant techniques and methods, and jointly analyzed the experience of localizing new practices in the classroom. From January 2024, the program will enter a new phase, when partner schools will be given an educational intervention program for the development of literacy, mathematics and reading for five different levels of difficulty. Wherever the students in the program with specific literacy difficulties are on their learning journey, teachers will be able to use a literacy assessment tool to select texts and exercises at the right level of difficulty, and will be equipped with resources for differentiation.
The title of the project is: Developing a Local System of Inclusive Education for Improved Foundational Literacy. We are grateful to the Republican Pedagogical Psychological Center for a strong partnership and to the Department of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Lori Marz of RA for proactively informing the partner schools about the participation in the program.
